Olive oil is being taken up as cooking healthy recipes by many people these days. It has many properties that are beneficial to health like vitamin A, D, E and K, plenty of antioxidants, good fats and so on.

Olive oil is known for its various health benefits and is the actual secret for a longer life expectancy among the people. Enriched with vitamin A, D, E and K, it protects from various diseases such as Cholesterol, heart problems, high blood pressure, depression, obesity, cognitive issues, Osteoporosis, skin and hair problems and so on. It is also used for making numerous healthy recipes hence, replacing  your regular cooking oil with the Liquid Gold is a wise choice.

There are, however, many different varieties like regular, Virgin, Extra Virgin etc. available in the market today, among which the extra virgin is considered the most beneficial for health.

Here are some recipes with Olive oil that are healthy, do not consume much time and neither require a lot of effort.

Vegetable salad

Ingredients

  •         Vegetables of different colors (Broccoli, beans, beetroot, tomatoes, cabbage, colorful bell peppers, onion, baby corns and carrot)
  •         Salt
  •         Pepper
  •         Extra virgin Olive oil
  •         Mustard seeds.

Method

Chop the vegetables and boil for 20 minutes. Chop tomatoes and onions and keep them aside. Take a frying pan, heat it on a low flame and drizzle it with some Olive oil. Put the mustard seeds, chopped tomatoes and onions, and let it frizzle for 5 to 10minutes. Now, take the boiled vegetables in a bowl, put the sautéed ingredients, sprinkle it with some salt, pepper and Olive oil and mix it well. Bon appetite!

Fruit Salad with Spinach

Ingredients

  •         Fresh spinach
  •         Red onion
  •         Sliced strawberries
  •         Crushed walnuts
  •         Chopped pineapples
  •         Blueberries
  •         Olive oil
  •         Salt
  •         Lemon juice
  •         Pepper

Method

Take a medium-sized bowl, add the chopped fruits along with the fresh spinach and red onion, and toss everything together. Now, take another bowl or jar and stir salt, pepper, lemon juice and Olive oil in it well to prepare the dressing. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss them together for 2 minutes. The best low calorie recipe is all ready to be served.

Potato Fries

Ingredients

  •         Fresh potatoes
  •         Olive oil
  •         Chilli powder
  •         Garlic powder
  •         Onion powder
  •         Chilli flakes

Method

Chop the potatoes into wedges, toss them with some Olive oil, chilli powder, garlic powder and onion powder and bake (at 230 degrees C) or fry (at a low flame) for 30 minutes. Toss it with chilli flakes and serve with eclectic dip sauce options.    

Vegetable Noodles

Ingredients

 

  •         Noodles
  •         Vegetables(potato, cabbage, onion, carrot, red, green and yellow bell peppers)
  •         Salt
  •         Olive oil
  •         Pepper
  •         Garlic cloves
  •         Lemon juice
  •         Finely chopped parsley leaves

Method

Bring the noodles and vegetables to boil. Now, take a frying pan, heat it at a low flame, drizzle some Olive oil and garlic cloves and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the boiled vegetables and noodles in the frying pan and sauté for another 10 minutes. Sprinkle some salt, lemon juice and the parsley leaves at the end and serve with your favorite sauce.

Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

 

  •         100% whole wheat white bread
  •          Tomatoes
  •          Extra virgin Olive oil
  •          Slices of provolone cheese
  •          Dried oregano.

Method

Take a skillet pan, heat some Olive oil in it and place a slice of white bread. Press the bread into the pan for 20 seconds. Put one slice of cheese, sprinkle some oregano and slices of tomato on top of the bread and cover it with the second slice of white bread. Keep pressing the bread down until it changes into a light brown color. Flip the bread and let the top slice to grill. Serve while it’s still hot!
